安息日の朝に考えたこと
マグダラのマリア（１９世紀に描かれたもの）
女神と聞いただけで、関心ないというどころか、
「結構です」といわれたことが実際あります。
もちろん相手は誤解しているのですが・・・
１９９５、６年ごろの日本に私が講演に来たとき、
前にもお話したとおり、
講演テーマはまさにこの「女神たちのパッチワーク」でした。
この講演を通して女神の古代から伝わる神話や様々な女性について
私はお話しながら全国数箇所をまわりました。
その中でちょうど長野にさしかかったとき、
私の講演を主催してくださる方から妙な話を聞かされました。
講演内容が女神に関係することからある会場を貸してもらうのを
断られたというのです。
私は非常にカルチャーショックを受けました。
思い出せば、ちょうどあの頃は日本ではオーム事件があり、
何かと宗教にからむ事件が多かった時代でした。
それで「神」と聞いただけで怯える人々がたくさん日本にいたと思います。
もともと信仰のある人はそれがなんであれ、
あんな騒ぎでビクともしませんが、
信仰のない人は、あんな事件があると信仰のないことに
益々、これでよかったと思うでしょう。
中には信仰を失った人たちも大勢いると思います。
私たち、皆が信仰を失うと、人間はどう変わるでしょうか？
かえって平和になる！？
それとも混沌とするこの社会の中で一層、見失っていくでしょうか？
しかし、ここにいるのは私たちだけではなく、
目に見えない存在によって生かされていると信じるほうが、
心も楽になり、感謝の気持ちを忘れず暮らせることは確かです。
私もエハンと同じで、何の宗教にも属したことはありません。
しかし神々の神話に昔から非常に関心を寄せていて、
この宇宙について科学的に学ぼうとすればするほど、
古代の人々や彼らの信仰、そして言い伝えなどが、
科学と一致していることによく気づかされます。
西洋文明で大きな歴史の分岐点は、
なんといってもギリシャ時代で、
今日に至るまで男性中心的な世の中を作り上げてきたことは事実です。
その結果、やはり暴力的で破壊的な世の中に至りました。
では、それまではというと、前にも述べたように
女神崇拝と共に家母長社会が形成されていたようです。
だからその時代は平和だったのか、と男性の方は思われるでしょう。
いえ、女神たちも戦いました。しかし今の世の中のようではない
秩序はあの時代、地球人はしっかりと
守りながら暮らしていたような気がします。
私たちは多くを忘れています。
間違ったことも教えられています。
誤解もたくさんあります。
女神信仰はキリスト教時代となってからPagan(異端信仰)に変わり、
マグダラのマリア信仰もその一つです。
マグダラのマリアは男性的なカトリック教会のおかげで、
娼婦だったと、私たちは信じさせられてきました。
やっと今日となって本当の彼女が
世の中に理解される時代となりました。
RETURN of the GREAT GODDESS
小さなムーブメントとして、今起きている
女神意識の復活は非常にタイムリーで、
今となって、私たち人間は女性や母親の性質を
再び確認する必要に迫られている時代を迎えているからです。
こういった神聖な女神を完全に見捨てていない文化もありますが、
家父長制度が存在する社会が現実としてここにあり、
その宗教もあり、それは天にいる神の宗教です。
これが今の主な先進国の宗教ベースとなっているのです。
こういった社会は古来から大地と共に、
そして女神に基づく宗教を隅に追いやり、滅ぼしてきました。
その結果、私たちは何を見失い、何を忘れてしまったのでしょうか。
女神とは一体、誰なのでしょう？
こんな質問を私は、あの宗教では安息日とする日曜日、
とんがった建物に入る日に考えつきました。
